Fit Camp

From the Chairman

Mr. Antonio Holley

I would like to thank all who participated in the People That Care Fit Camp.  It was a joy for me to personally train the new fit camp members.  I got as much out of it as the members did.  I hope with the nutrition guides and exercise you will be able to maintain a healthy life style but in order to do this you must employ some discipline.  Other programs that teach exercise and not diet are incomplete.  Nutrition is paramount in getting and staying fit.  We all must control our calorie intake.  We need as much control over our own health as possible and that include eating and drinking the correct amount of calories for our bodies.  Obesity is a terrible epidemic in the United States.

Obesity Statistics (Obesity = 30 or more pounds overweight)

Year                       Percentage of overweight Americans

1980                       15%

1994                       23.2%

2000                       30.9%

2004                       32.9%

2008                       36.9%……..more than 1/3 of the population.

People That Care is committed to making a difference, one person at a time.  We extend our invitation for you to join us.

Here are some helpful tips:

Be sure you are getting enough protein.

Reduce stress which can lead to overeating.

Be sure to get enough rest as well.  Sleep time is metabolism resetting time.

Avoid diets – they do not work.  Changes in diet must be lifestyle changes you can live with in the long run.  There are no quick fixes.

Eat a healthy breakfast.

Take vitamin supplements.

Exercise for a minimum of 20 minutes each day.

Use the chart below to establish a target weight.
